Cliff Hand and Jan May of Marketing Specific MD have joined the cancer fight through Relay For Life in Rowlett, Texas. "We are excited to be Teams Co-Chairman of this amazing event", exclaimed May and Hand. May has been involved with Relay For Life since 1996 in Waxahachie, Ennis, Red Oak, and Midlothian all in Ellis County, Texas.

Relay For Life is the American Cancer Society’ signature activity that began in 1985 in Washington State. It offers everyone in a community an opportunity to participate in the fight against cancer. Teams of people will be camping out at Rowlett High School and take turns walking or running around a track. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. The Relay will start at 7pm on Friday, September 23rd and will end on Saturday, September 24th at 7am.

Teams are created from all walks of life: families, companies, churches, friends, neighbors, and high school organizations. One thing all participates have in common is that they are raising money and awareness for one of the deadliest diseases in the world and have fun at the same time. Raising much needed funds to fight cancer and raise awareness of cancer prevention and treatment are key to curing cancer.

The first lap is called the "Survivor Lap" and consists of anyone who has survived cancer of any kind. Each survivor is asked to walk one lap in honor of their fight with cancer. At 10pm, the Luminaria Ceremony begins. This is one of the most touching moments of the 12 hour event. Each of these bags represents someone who has passed away from cancer or who is still battling the disease. Everyone pays tribute to those honored.

Relay For Life is a life-changing event that brings together more than 3.5 million people to:

• Celebrate the lives of those who have battled cancer. The strength of survivors inspires others to continue to fight.
• Remember loved ones lost to the disease. At Relay, people who have walked alongside people battling cancer can grieve and find healing.
• Fight Back. We Relay because we have been touched by cancer and desperately want to put an end to the disease.
